Idaho's Graduated Driver's Licensing (GDL) Program
A student must be 14½ before they can begin taking Driver’s Education. The District will offer classes throughout the school year. Classroom time is 30 hours and is completed in the first 3 weeks. Students will then schedule drives with their assigned driver. It is estimated to take a student 2 to 3 months to complete all requirements for the class. The cost for the class is $150.
To sign up for Driver’s Education, please review the schedule below and go to the Madison Education Center; 60 West Main, to fill out the registration form. We do NOT offer waiting lists.

Documents needed to obtain a Permit at Madison County DMV (208) 372-5003. (By Appointment Only) Apply for the Permit 2 to 3 weeks before class starts.
Certified Birth Certificate
Picture ID (Student Activity Card, Yearbook Picture)
Social Security Number
VOC (Verification of Enrollment) - Pick up at the District Office
Parent will need to show an Idaho Drivers License or Idaho ID.
Cost of the permit is $26.50.

All of our Classes are full for the 2024-2025 School year. We do NOT offer waiting lists.
January 6, 2025 – (24 students) FULL
Class Time – 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., 5 days a week for 3 weeks (30 hrs.)

March 3, 2025 - (24 students) FULL
Class Time – 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., 5 days a week for 3 weeks (30 hrs.)
Classroom - #180, MJH
June 2, 2025 – (24 students) FULL
Class Time - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 3 or 4 days a week for 3 weeks (30 hrs.)

*Students will be assigned a Driving Instructor, which may be different than the Class Instructor.

Classes for the 2025-2026 year will be posted June 2, 2025. Please come to the District office at that time to register your student.
